About company

Mayfair Philatelic Auctions is based in the heart of Mayfair at 32 St. George Street, (within the 'Bernard Shapero Rare Books' building) and has offices in Lingfield, Surrey.

Directed by Rick Warren and Tim Francis, who have many years experience in the trade and a vast knowledge of Philatelic trends and markets, Mayfair are uniquely placed to deal with both the trade and collectors alike.

Prior to Mayfair, Messrs Francis and Warren were the founders of 'Apex Philatelics Limited', a highly successful stamp auctioneering and retailing business, acquired by Noble Investments (UK) Plc and thereafter by Stanley Gibbons Group Plc.

Scholium Group PLS , an AIM listed public company specialising in rare books, works on paper and collectibles, approached the Apex directors regarding a new philatelic venture. Delighted at the thought of working together again and attracting both old and new Philatelists alike, Mayfair Philatelic rose.

The Directors first recruited Josh Barber formerly of Apex Philatelics Ltd as their Auction Manager, where he discovered his passion for describing, he then moved on to do so full-time. They have since appointed Sadie Medhurst-Griffiths, (a non-philatelist but budding enthusiast) to the position - meet her at Stampex and the Strand Stamp Fairs, she would love to hear your collecting history.

The inaugural auction was held on Sunday March 4th 2018 at Lingfield Park Racecourse, Surrey. Thanks to our customers, old and new, for making this a success. The vast majority of material sold and a great deal greatly exceeded our estimates.

The next Auction was a highly successful collaboration with David Feldman SA of Geneva at The Westbury Hotel in Mayfair on June 6th and 7th, 2018. A further collaborative sale is planned for summer 2019.

Most recently we  returned to the ever popular Lingfield Park Racecourse venue on October 14th, 2018 for our 3rd Public auction of the year which, we are proud to say was a grand success.

The next auction will be the January 2019 Postal auction featuring nearly 5,000 lots.

The next Lingfield Public auction will be held on March 3rd 2019.
