Cover addressed to Milwaukee, Wisconsin posted in Lowenberg (Schle)* on 3 January 1935. Franked with the 1 Rpf. value of the 1933-36 Hindenburg issue, the 12 Rpf. value (Hermann von Wissmann) of the 1934 Lost Colonies Issue, and the 12 Rpf value of the 1934 Reichsparteitag Issue.
*Schle is an abbreviation of Schlesien (Silesia). In 1935, Lowenberg, about 60 kilometers east of Gorlitz, had approximately 7000 inhabitants. It was one of the oldest towns in Schlesien, and boasted the Hotel du Roi, which was frequently visited by Frederick the Great. Most of the Schlesien
region was incorporated into Poland after WWII.
