The card was written in France during the German occupation, dated 6 November 1940, addressed to the NSDAP Ortsgruppe in Neckarsulm ... but never mailed.
Depicted is the Ils 123, a single-seater first produced in 1935 by Henschel Flugzeugwerke A.G.
as a bomber and ground support aircraft. It was outdated by 1940, but continued in service until late 1944 on the Eastern Front, and as a trainer. It had a maximum speed of 200 mph and a ceiling of 29,500 feet. Armament consisted of two machine guns or two 20 mm cannon, plus a 1,000 lb. bomb load.
