Württembergisches Auktionshaus für Postwertzeichen is one of Europe’s most prestigious, high-turnover firms of philately auctioneers. It holds four auction sales each year, offering sale and purchase opportunities for collectors, dealers, and institutions throughout the world. The firm also arranges special auction sales (with separate catalogues).
Joachim Erhardt, owner and sole shareholder of WAP, has more than 25 years of experience in the auction business and is renowned for his expertise in all areas of philately. He is supported by two other expert philatelists, each with their own areas of specialisation, in putting together expertly edited auction catalogues that are distributed throughout the world. For years, all the catalogue illustrations have been exclusively in colour – for WAP, black-and-white has long been a matter of the past.
WAP is based in a mansion (a fine listed building) at Relenbergstraße 78 in Stuttgart. This means that it is located in an exclusive residential district but is still only 15 minutes walk from Stuttgart’s main railway station and the city centre. On the outside, the building still looks the same as it did over a century ago, as is shown by this 1905 “Greetings from Stuttgart” postcard.
The interior has kept up with the times, however. The building is equipped with a state-of-the-art alarm system covering all the rooms and with a direct line to police headquarters. The computer network links all parts of the building, and the old auction room on the ground floor has now been replaced by a new auction hall at the back of the garden.
WAP has all the facilities needed to carry out assignments on your behalf. We will be honoured to auction your collection. We guarantee professionally competent handling and fair and trouble-free arrangements in every respect.
