On 2 September 160,000 political leaders paraded in the Zeppelinfeld in ranks divided by a wide middle avenue, with three narrower lanes on each side. Waves of flag bearers came over the embankments at the rear of the field, sweeping through blocks of men, marching twelve abreast through the central lane. One hundred thousand spectators watched the parade.
