Lot 1021
1907 (March) cover to Hull (England) franked on reverse with 10k (1902-05) tied by URGA Type 4 datestamp, with TROITSKOSAVSK VA BAIKOV transit (a small Russian town just over the Mongolian border) and HULL arrival. Scarce destination and a rare routing.
Use of this 10k stamp is exceptional. Evidently stamps of this design (1889-92 and 1902-05 issues) were not supplied to the Mongolian offices, time the 10k rate was normally made up by 7k + 3k or 2 x 5k. The stamp was probably supplied by the sender.
