1934 Official cover with printed corner card franked with Scott 086 from the office of the Chief of Police Kiel
Lot 580
Official cover with printed corner card franked with Scott 086 from the office of the
Chief of Police Kiel
18 April 1934.
The cover was mailed to the Bureau of the Reich President on the famous Wilhelmstrasse in Berlin.
The Wilhelmstrasse was a street crossing the Allee Unter den Linden and the Stresemannstrasse, east of the Brandenburg Tor in Berlin. After the German unification in 1871, Wilhelmstrasse was the address of several ministries, including the Foreign Office.
The administration of German foreign policy until 1945 was therefore often simply called “the Wilhelmstrasse.”
