Philatelically prepared, but postally used cover with mixed franking. The cover carries Germany B112a booklet pane and Austria C34.
Posted in Wien on 10 April 1938.
Austria was incorporated into the German Reich on 13 March 1938, and on 4 April 1938, all current German stamps became valid for use in the former Austria. Although Austrian stamps were valid in Austria until 30 September 1938, they were never valid in Germany. The rate of exchange at that time was 1 mark to 1.50 schilling.
Mixed franking, as above, is often seen.
