The Reichsniihrstand was a monopoly agricultural organization established by law in 1933. It included all persons and businesses involved in the cultivation, processing, and marketing of farm products. Membership was obligatory. The administrative head was Reich Peasant Fiihrer and Agriculture Minister Walther Darre. Beneath him, in a strictly hierarchical structure, were the State (Land), District (Kreis), and local peasant unions (Bauernschaften).
