Local district postal receipt recording a 5 kg package sent from Coburg on 3 December 1944.
Coburg is a manufacturing and commercial city in Bavaria, 36 miles northwest of Bayreuth. “Coburg (975 ft.) with 24,700 inhabitants (1929) is prettily situated in the valley of the Itz and dominated by its imposing castle. It boasts of a number of old buildings, mostly erected under Duke Johann Kasimir (1572-1633). Its industries include the manufacture of porcelain, brewing, and weaving.”
