The sender was in the unit with field post number: 07216 F=5.Kp.Schtz.Rgt.104
The Rifle Regiment was subordinate to the 15th Panzer Division and defended from May 27th, 1941 to January 17th, 1942
the Halfaya Pass. The pass was supplied from the air (among other things with so-called supply bombs).
When the supply failed, the I. Rifle Regiment and with it the Italian
Unions surrender honorably.
The unit became famous because of its commander: the Protestant pastor Hauptmann (later Major) d.R. William Bach.
Called by the English: The Pastor of Purgatory

den eingeschlossenen Halfaya Pass. Die Versorgung des Passes erfolgte aus der Luft (u.a.mit sogenannten Verpflegungsbomben).
Als die Versorgung ausblieb musste das I. Schutzenregiment und mit ihr auch die ital.
Verbande ehrenvoll kapitulieren.
Beruhmt wurde die Einheit wegen ihres Kommandeurs : der evangelische Pastor Hauptmann (spater Major) d.R. Wilhelm Bach.
